About the Event
Join District 4 and one of the ADA’s top 10 under 10, Dr. Mina Kim. Hear how her work with sex-trafficking victims, Give Kids a Smile, and other community efforts in NY landed her as one of ADA’s top ten dentists with under 10 years of practice.
Dr. Mina C. Kim received her B.A. from Barnard College and returned to Columbia to obtain her dental degree where she won the Esthetics Dentistry award. She did her residency training at New York Methodist Hospital where she won the Prosthodontics award.
She is secretary of the New York County Dental Society, co-founder of the Woman to Woman Dentists Network with Dr. Lois Jackson and secretary of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Alumni Association. Other leadership positions include serving on committees and councils of the New York State Dental Association, American Dental Association, NYU dental school and the Korean American Association of Greater New York.
Dr. Kim is also the founder of the NYCDS Give Kids A Smile Day event, guest lectured at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and has made appearances on The Dr. Oz Show. She gives back by working with the Special Olympics, providing pro bono dental services to sex trafficking victims and distributes toiletries to the homeless.
Lois A. Jackson, DDS, president-elect/Acting President of the New York County Dental Society, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and practices in New York City. Dr. Jackson received her DDS and certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Jackson is an assistant clinical professor of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at CUCDM. She served as a Trustee of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the chair of the New York State Board for Dentistry. In 2009, she was a Columbia University Alumni Medalist. Dr. Jackson co-founded the Woman to Woman Dentist Network with Dr. Mina Kim in 2015.
Dr. Maria Maranga received her DDS degree and her Endodontic specialty certificate from NYU. She has served as a consultant to the V.A., is an attending to 4 GPR residency programs, postgraduate endodontic programs, and serves as a dental faculty member at NYU, Stony Brook, and on the medical staff of NYU Langone. She is a past president of the Suffolk County Dental Society and the current President of the NYS Endodontic Association. She also completed a three-year term as a Board Trustee of the National AAE and Chair of the ADA Council on Membership. She is a current board member of EDPAC, ADPAC and the NYS Dental Foundation.
She was twice honored by being Long Island’s Top 50 Business Women, the mentorship award by the Lucy Hobbs Project, and Dental Products Report Magazine as one of Dentistry’s TOP 25 women across the country. She has also won the Bernard Tillis Award for literary excellence in the NYS Dental Journal. She is a graduate of the ADA’s Diversity Institute and then served a 3-year term as their consultant. She is also the Academic Affairs Director of the AAWD.
Most notably, she is the co-founder of the double award winning SCRUBS AND STILETTOS, a yearly C.E. and networking event for women.
